[...Weiterlesen/more...]

4th Workshop on Complex Networks hosted by NBI

The 4th Workshop on Complex Networks will be hosted March 13-15, 2013 by NBI with Prof. Tolksdorf as the general chair.

The International workshop on complex networks (CompleNet) aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners working on areas related to complex networks. In the past two decades we have been witnessing an exponential increase on the number of publications in this field. From biological systems to computer science, from economic to social systems, complex networks are becoming pervasive in many fields of science. It is this interdisciplinary nature of complex networks that CompleNet aims at addressing.

Workshops are scheduled around the world on an yearly basis. The first edition of the workshop took place in May 2009 in Catania, Italy; the 2nd took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the 3rd in Melbourne, Florida, USA.  This year we will be Berlin at the campus of the Freie Universitaet Berlin… [...Weiterlesen/more...]

DigiPolis project publication accepted at Web-KR3 Workshop

The DigiPolis project here at AG NBI is developing a Self-organized Semantic Storage Service (“S4″). A research paper written by NBI staff members Hannes Mühleisen, Tilman Walther and Prof. Robert Tolksdorf discussing the web-scale evaluation of range queries to support geospatial applications within this system was accepted for the 2011 International Workshop on Web-scale Knowledge Representation, Retrieval, and Reasoning (Web-KR3 2011) co-located with the 2011 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conferences on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology in Lyon, France.
The publication is titled “Web-scale Range Queries in a Self-Organized Storage Service”, here the abstract:

Distributed solutions for the storage and retrieval of large amounts of data are necessary to handle the growing amounts of knowledge expected from future applications. The support for range queries provides much-needed expressivity, for example for queries on data annotated with location and time. We present a novel and scalable way for range query evaluation in our distributed storage system based on behaviour found in ants. Routing decisions in this system are taken on the basis of virtual pheromone paths leading from one node to another node, distinct for different data items. Range queries for single ranges can be evaluated by checking the pheromone paths for

Workshop Web-scale Knowledge Representation, Retrieval, and Reasoning @ IEEE WI/IAT

The World Wide Web has become the carrier for the largest human knowledge repository in history. As its knowledge bases are growing towards a practically ‘infinite’ volume, Web-scale Knowledge Representation, Retrieval, and Reasoning (Web-KR3) is becoming a real issue and an urgent task. Although the Web community has developed a number of knowledge representation languages and reasoning methods, when the volume goes Web-scale, existing approaches meet many challenging problems, such as scalability, inconsistency, uncertainty and dynamics. Hence, a unified approach to Web-KR3 needs to be developed.

The workshop aims to bringing together researchers from Web research, Artificial Intelligence (AI), high performance computing, cognitive science, knowledge management, and machine learning to discuss all issues of Web-KR3 in a synergistic setting. The workshop will be co-located with the 2011 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conferences on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology.

Workshop proposal für WWW-Konferenz 2011 akzeptiert – Call for Papers

[...Weiterlesen/more...]
